People – Paolo Bua
Paolo Bua — known as “Budda” — is the steady force of Crus Yacht.
Born and based in Sardinia, nothing could ever pull him away from his island, its wind, or its sea. Paolo is unshakable, meticulous, and radically committed to authenticity — which earned him his nickname long before his career began.
He studied naval engineering alongside Marco Croci, sharing with him a deep passion for sailing and boatbuilding.
Paolo’s influence was decisive: Marco often says he learned everything from him.
Paolo has an extraordinary sensitivity for volumes, hull shapes, and balance, paired with an encyclopedic knowledge of the nautical world. Throughout his career, he has designed boats that became icons for their performance, purity, and uncompromising simplicity.
“Performance starts with removing everything that doesn’t matter.”
At Crus Yacht, Paolo leads the technical design: he conceives hulls, appendages, and sail plans with a single goal — to deliver boats that feel alive, crisp, and sensational in performance and handling.
Every line he draws is guided by clarity, purpose, and a deep respect for what a boat is meant to be.
